Question

Can a 2-month-old baby take Itraconazole Suspension?

Answer

Itraconazole Granules are taken orally, with adults taking 1 to 2 grams per day, divided into 3 to 4 doses. For children, the dosage is 20 to 30 milligrams per kilogram of body weight per day, also divided into 3 to 4 doses. For the treatment of Legionnaires’ disease, adults take 0.5 to 1.0 gram per dose, four times a day. For the prevention of recurrent rheumatoid arthritis, a dose of 0.25 gram is taken twice a day. For the prevention of infective endocarditis, 1 gram is taken orally one hour before surgery, followed by another 0.5 gram six hours post-surgery. Itraconazole and other azole drugs are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to them.
