Question

My 7-month-old child had a fever, and I gave him Amoxicillin, but now he has diarrhea. What should I do?

Answer

If your child has diarrhea after taking Amoxicillin for fever, you can try using alcohol to wipe the body to reduce body temperature. At the same time, you should try to find out the cause of the fever, as fever could be due to an infection, connective tissue disease, or even cancer. Before determining the cause, it’s not advisable to rush to use medication. For fever patients, it’s recommended to use Xiao-Chaihu Decoction, fever reducer patches, thermometers, ibuprofen, anti-inflammatory drugs, and amino acid oral solutions. If the patient cannot eat, they may need to undergo fluid therapy. During treatment, it’s not recommended to use air conditioning, as this is not conducive to recovery.
