Question
My child has been diagnosed with epilepsy for a month now. What should I do? We went to the hospital and had a brain CT done, and the results were normal. The doctor said we need to have an EEG done to confirm the diagnosis. I’m worried it’s epilepsy. What should I do?
Answer
Epilepsy patients should avoid drinking, smoking, and staying up late. They should avoid eating spicy or irritative food, maintain a positive mood, avoid getting angry, exercise regularly to strengthen their constitution, and reduce the chance of catching a cold. In terms of diet, they should eat more light and less meat, especially pork (fatty meat is strictly prohibited), and can consume other types of meat in moderation. They should eat more foods rich in vitamins B and C and minerals like seaweed, bananas, grapes, oranges, fish, egg yolks, and cabbage. They should engage in appropriate physical exercise, maintain a regular routine, avoid overexertion and insufficient sleep. Emotionally, they should avoid getting angry and reduce stress. Additionally, they should use computers and televisions moderately and take a break every hour.
