Question
My baby is 7 months old and has a layer of white on the tongue, but there are no other abnormalities. What method should I use to remove the stomach problems?
Answer
Here are three traditional Chinese medicine massage techniques and one dietary therapy to consider:
- Spinal Pressing: Have the baby lie face down on a flat surface. The parent uses the thumb, index finger, and middle finger to press along both sides of the baby’s spine, pressing and massaging from bottom to top and then from top to bottom, for 3 to 5 repetitions. Perform this every evening.
- Middle Abdominal Point Massage: At the middle abdominal point (the midpoint between the chest and navel), the parent uses the palm root to rub in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction, twice a day.
- YongquanMassage: On the sole of the foot (i.e., the Yongquanpoint), use the thumb to press and rotate massage for 30 to 50 times, twice a day. For babies with feverish stomach problems, combine all three methods for 10 minutes each day. Additionally, you can also try a dietary therapy: chop 2 pounds of white radish, 2 ounces of ginger, and 4 scallions into pieces, stir-fry them until hot, place them on the baby’s stomach, and rub until sweating occurs to help dissipate stagnation and reduce fever.
