Question
What are the common reactions after a baby gets vaccinated?
Answer
After a child is vaccinated, it is common to experience mild reactions at the injection site, such as redness, swelling, heat, and pain, or lymph node enlargement. Sometimes, symptoms like fever, decreased appetite, vomiting, or abdominal pain may also occur. Generally, these reactions do not require special treatment; drinking plenty of water and getting adequate rest are usually sufficient. These symptoms typically resolve within one or two days. It is advisable to avoid bathing immediately after vaccination and to treat symptoms as needed, such as with physical cooling or antihistamines. However, if severe reactions such as persistent high fever, purulent infection at the injection site, or poor spirits and decreased appetite occur, immediate medical assistance should be sought.
