Question

Can I mix egg yolk with rice noodles to feed my baby? Additional question 1: After introducing complementary foods, digestion seems fine, thanks to the baby’s good tongue. Stool frequency varies, sometimes twice a day, sometimes once a day. However, when the baby seems to need to defecate, there’s a humming sound, and a little stool leaks out of the anus. What’s going on? Please provide detailed guidance. Thank you! Additional question 2: When crying, a little golden yellow liquid leaks out, sometimes with some fecal residue. If you try to make him defecate, nothing comes out; there’s no stool. Normal stool is not runny, but paste-like.

Answer

If the baby has already adapted to both types of complementary foods, it’s fine to mix them together. If it’s the first time introducing them, it’s recommended to start with egg yolk, observe for a few days to ensure there are no issues with the stool, and then gradually introduce rice noodles. Infants under one year old should still primarily be fed milk, with an additional introduction of complementary foods on top of ensuring 700 to 800 milliliters of milk per day. Here’s how to introduce egg yolk: Boil an egg, peel it, and remove the yolk. Grind it into powder. Start by feeding the baby 1/8 of a yolk per day, and gradually increase to 1/4, then 1/2, until the entire yolk is given. The egg yolk powder can be mixed with boiling water and given between feedings; it can also be directly mixed into rice noodles. Around six months old, the baby can start eating egg porridge; by seven or eight months, they can eat steamed eggs (including the egg white).
