Question
My baby is seven months old. On last Friday morning, she started having diarrhea and by evening, she had a fever. After visiting the hospital, the doctor prescribed fever-reducing and anti-diarrheal medications, which helped alleviate the symptoms. However, from yesterday until today, the diarrhea has recurred. I have given her three packs of Sibiduo, an anti-diarrheal medicine. The stool is curd-like. Should I continue giving her Sibiduo, and are there any side effects? Do I need to administer other medications?
Answer
Considering it might be due to indigestive diarrhea or enteritis, it is recommended to conduct further stool routine checks for a definitive diagnosis and to confirm if there are any white blood cells present. If it is enteritis, cefixime suspension or berberine tablets can be taken for treatment. If the stool routine is normal, it is suggested to take Mamyai and Simida for treatment. Additionally, offer more warm water, avoid spicy foods, and administer appropriate medications such as children’s paracetamol yellow amanitin granules, ribavirin granules, and amoxicillin clavulanate potassium granules. If the body temperature exceeds 38 degrees Celsius, use fever-reducing medication.
