Question

There has been a recent discussion online about babies with precocious puberty. While checking my baby’s nipples, I noticed that the area around them feels a bit hard. My baby has been breastfeeding, but recently started drinking Dumex milk powder (Dumex milk powder), and it has been eight days now. I want to know if this symptom indicates my baby has precocious puberty?

Answer

Your baby may be experiencing simple breast development, also known as minor puberty, which is not yet diagnosed as precocious puberty. Within the normal range, no intervention treatment is currently needed. For children with simple breast development, we should maintain clinical follow-up, especially if there is a persistent hard lump in the breast that does not regress, continues to grow, or recurs after regression. It is important to closely observe growth rate, bone age, and the development of secondary sexual characteristics. During the follow-up process, if other signs of development, growth acceleration, bone age advancement, or increased levels of sex hormones appear, timely evaluation and treatment should be conducted.
