Question

What are the causes of bedwetting in children?

Answer

During the 4-5 month period, babies do not wake up, cry, or wet the bed at night; they only urinate in the morning. However, during the 6-7 month period, babies may cry and fuss at night and also wet the bed, requiring waking up 2-3 times a night. Medically referred to as physiological enuresis, it is advisable to first check for the possibility of a hidden spinal cord defect. Additionally, be mindful not to overexert during the day; otherwise, sleeping too deeply at night may make it difficult to wake up when there is urine. It is also important to avoid drinking too much fluid before bedtime. Reduce nighttime urine output and consider using a timed alarm clock to remind children to urinate at regular intervals.
