Question
At 5 pm on March 14, 2013, a child was hit in the eye by a hanger, resulting in subconjunctival hemorrhage and pupil dilation. What is this condition?
Answer
After an eye injury, it is important to promptly suture the wound, remove or reposition any prolapsed uveal tissue, and prevent infection. In cases of subconjunctival hemorrhage and pupil dilation, it may be helpful in preventing the disease. Generally, if this condition is detected, treatment for uveitis should be initiated. For mild cases, immunosuppressants can be chosen. Most cases can recover some vision after treatment, but the treatment to remove the triggering eye often cannot stop the disease process. Some triggering eyes may regain some vision after treatment.
