Question
Is there a solution for a three-year-old baby’s hands and feet to have blisters and a sore tongue?
Answer
For symptoms during the acute stage such as low fever or no fever, runny nose, coughing, sore throat, or loss of appetite and nausea, the herbal formula “Yin Chiao San” can be used; for persistent high fever, with dense rashes in the mouth, hands, buttocks, and limbs, the herbal formula “Qing Wen Bai Du Yin” can be used; for complications such as persistent high fever and frequent coughing with shortness of breath, the herbal formula “Yi Jiao Huang Yuan He Shen Fu Tang” can be used. During the recovery period of the disease, for children with dry mouth and sore throat, add Sheng Di Huang (raw rehmannia) and Lu Gen (lichens) to the Shashen Mai Dong Soup formula to nourish yin and moisten the throat. If the child’s mouth has blisters, you can use one of the following: Xigua Shuang (watermelon frost), Bing Peng San (ice borax powder), or Xin Lai San (tin powder), to apply to the affected areas of the mouth; for severe hand and foot blisters, you can choose one of the following: Ru Yi Jin Huang San (Yu Liang Huang powder) or Qing Dai San (indigo powder), mixed with sesame oil, to apply to the affected rash areas.
