Question
A 9-year-old boy started experiencing abdominal pain in early March. How should it be treated?
Answer
Mesenteric lymphadenitis is an acute inflammation of the mesenteric lymph nodes, which requires antibiotic treatment for management. Commonly used medications include penicillin medicine such as penicillin, amoxicillin, or cephalosporin drugs. If the abdominal pain is severe, additional antispasmodic painkillers such as 654-2 or hyoscyamine tablets can be added. Abdominal heat compresses can also be used in conjunction with the treatment.
