Question

My child is four years old and has been constantly coughing recently. It usually starts as soon as they fall asleep at night, feeling like something is stuck in their throat. When they’re asleep, their throat makes a sound similar to snoring. This has been going on for half a month now. A few days ago, I took them to see a doctor and they were given saline and some medication, but it didn’t seem to help. What should the doctor do for treatment?

Answer

Mild infections can be treated with anti-inflammatory medication. For cough or phlegm, you can try fresh bamboo extract oral liquid or pediatric Glycerin pellets. In severe cases, it is recommended to undergo intravenous fluid therapy. Be vigilant for mycoplasma infections; if diagnosed with mycoplasma infection, it is suggested to use intravenous red mold injection or oral azithromycin dry suspension. Ensure adequate rest. If there is a fever, use antipyretic medication for symptomatic treatment.
