Question

What medication is effective for congenital anterior ear sinus?

Answer

Surgical treatment can be performed under 1% lidocaine regional infiltration anesthesia, and for children, it can be done under general anesthesia. During the surgery, a probe can be used for guidance, or blue or methylene blue dye can be injected into the sinus before the operation using a blunt needle as a marker. However, the amount of dye should not be excessive, and after injection, the excess dye should be gently massaged and wiped clean to avoid contamination of the surgical site. During the operation, a crescent-shaped incision can be made at the sinus opening, extending along the crus of the helix, and the surrounding tissues can be separated along the path of the sinus until all its branches are exposed. If there are inflamed granulation tissues, they can also be removed. After surgery, the wound should be treated with iodine solution. If there is a large skin defect, skin grafting or daily dressing changes may be necessary to allow the wound to heal secondarily.
