Question
When can my baby start eating rice noodles?
Answer
Once a baby reaches 4 months old, their body’s ability to produce amylase, an enzyme that digests starch, increases. This is when it’s appropriate to start introducing starch-based foods as complementary foods to stimulate the gastrointestinal tract, promote the secretion of digestive enzymes, and enhance digestive function. When introducing rice noodles as complementary food, you can decide the starting time yourself, whether it’s after breastfeeding or between two feedings. Offering rice noodles before breastfeeding may help the baby accept new foods, as they are in a hungry state and more likely to try and accept new flavors.
