Question

My child, who is 5 years old, had a high fever two days ago, along with dry vomiting, abdominal pain (not very good digestion), and constipation. The child’s spirits were low. A color Doppler ultrasound and a complete blood test were done. The urine test report showed no issues. The child is feeling better after taking medication, not vomiting, but still has occasional abdominal pain. The child hasn’t eaten solid food; they’ve been consuming only porridge and noodles. Should I be concerned about the severity of the situation? Do I need to finish all the medication? Should we go for a follow-up check-up?

Answer

It’s best for the child to consume easily digestible foods recently, and to eat more fresh vegetables and fruits appropriately. Daily clockwise massage of the abdomen can help stabilize constipation. Once constipation is stabilized, the abdominal pain should subside accordingly. The recovery time for swollen lymph nodes may be relatively slow. Personally, I think it’s okay to temporarily stop the medication and observe the situation.
