Question

How to deal with newborn fever?

Answer

First, don’t rush to cool down but rather figure out the cause of the fever. There are many possible causes of fever in newborns, including upper respiratory infections, gastroenteritis, tonsillitis, pneumonia, and various infectious diseases. Additionally, children under one year old may also experience fever due to urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal problems, and hand, foot, and mouth disease. Many cases require a doctor’s diagnosis to determine the true cause of the fever. Since the child is so young, it’s not advisable to self-medicate. It’s recommended to consult a pediatrician, understand the cause, and then use symptomatic anti-inflammatory medication accordingly.
