Question

How long does it take for a newborn’s head to be able to support itself?

Answer

Between the second and third month after birth, infants usually begin to lift their heads to about 45 degrees while lying on their stomachs, and can lift their heads to 90 degrees by the fourth to fifth month. Newborns from one to two months old will clench their fists tightly when their palm is touched and respond to sounds by quickly turning their heads to look at large toys. These are all normal signs of growth and development in infants.
