Question
About six months ago, what is the pathogenesis of pediatric hearing impairment?
Answer
In the past six months, approximately half of children have experienced mild to moderate hearing loss, which is usually related to otitis media and its complications. Repeated or severe infections may lead to permanent hearing impairment. Children with craniofacial anomalies (such as cleft palate), immune deficiencies (such as transient hypogammaglobulinemia in infants), or exposure to environmental risk factors (such as smoking or day care centers) are more susceptible to otitis media. Boys are more prone to otitis media than girls.
