Question
My baby has been crying and not eating much lately. I want to know how long a baby’s breastfeeding aversion usually lasts?
Answer
A normal newborn usually breastfeeds very intently in the first two months after birth. However, by the time they are three months old, most babies start to lose interest in breastfeeding and may play while eating. Sometimes, they might be distracted by surrounding noises or movements and stop suckling. This temporary aversion to breastfeeding is known as a “physiological aversion to food,” characterized by normal development and good vitality, but with a temporary decrease in milk intake. This condition usually naturally recovers after about a month.
