Question

My child has had a cold with a runny nose and cough for three or four days, and the coughing has become more frequent today. What could be the reason?

Answer

Personally, I think it’s best to avoid injections if possible and give the child some over-the-counter fever and pain relievers, such as children’s phenylephrine hydrochloride granules. If there is phlegm and the tonsils are red and swollen, a bit of symptomatic anti-inflammatory medication can be added. Encourage the baby to drink plenty of water and eat less spicy and irritating food.
