Question
My baby is two years old. He started having diarrhea and a fever yesterday. I have already used fever patches, warm water wipes, and have been giving him antipyretic medication every six hours. He had diarrhea about ten times yesterday and was given Ceftriaxone. He had two more episodes of diarrhea today and was given Enterolysin and umbilical patch. How should I handle this situation? Thank you very much.
Answer
This child may have enteritis caused by rotavirus infection or gastroenteritis. It is recommended to conduct stool routine and blood routine tests, as well as a CRP test, to determine the cause and guide medication based on the test results. Since a physical examination cannot be conducted, it is suggested that you take the child to a local hospital’s pediatric department for a follow-up consultation. When the child has a fever, ensure the child drinks enough water and use warm towels to wipe the child’s face, neck, armpits, and groin areas to help reduce fever. Abdominal cold compresses can also be applied.
