Question
After water got into my ears at the end of last year, I felt some discomfort but did not pay much attention. Last week, yellow liquid flowed out of my ear, followed by hearing loss and a feeling of blockage, without accompanying pain or itching. After seeing a doctor, they only prescribed cefalexin chewable tablets and fluoroquinolone ear drops. Although there was some improvement after use, my hearing was still affected, and this morning I found a small amount of blood in my ear. I have stopped using the fluoroquinolone ear drops and am asking what this condition is.
Answer
Chronic otitis media is a chronic inflammation of the middle ear mucosa, tympanic membrane, or deep into the bone, often accompanied by chronic mastoiditis. Treatment methods include the treatment of nasal and ear symptoms such as inflammation, tumors, and allergic reactions; reliable medication (such as ciprofloxacin, metronidazole, and ampicillin infusion); techniques to promote ventilation and drainage in the middle ear through eustachian tube blowing; and general treatment such as resting, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding spicy and irritating foods.
