Question

What should be considered when infants fly on an airplane?

Answer

During takeoff and landing, infants may feel uncomfortable due to the sudden changes in air pressure. To alleviate this discomfort, it is recommended that parents allow their babies to suck on pacifiers or use bottles to drink water during the flight to balance the air pressure inside and outside of the airways. If a pacifier is not available, having the child chew on sugar or sip on some drinks can also help ease the discomfort. Additionally, choosing direct flights can reduce the number of takeoffs and landings the infant has to face, thereby lowering the risk.
