Question
My son is 5.5 years old and experiences severe bedwetting every winter, with two to three occurrences daily, usually about an hour after falling asleep, followed by another two hours later, and then every three to four hours thereafter. It is very frustrating. The worst is when he has five occurrences in one night when he is particularly unwell. Sometimes there is also a small amount of fecal incontinence during the day. Urinalysis and kidney ultrasound tests have been normal, but an X-ray shows a L5 cleft. I’ve heard that bedwetting caused by a cleft is incurable and will heal with age. Is this true? I would greatly appreciate your help!
Answer
The question of whether a cleft causes bedwetting and whether it can be cured suggests observing and paying attention to the child’s condition. If the situation is severe or there are signs of worsening pain, it is advisable to undergo early examination and treatment.
