Question

Is it normal for a 11-month-old baby to have only two teeth?

Answer

The timing of when babies start teething varies, with some as early as 4 months and most starting after 6 months. Teeth usually grow in pairs. Generally, all 20 primary teeth should be fully erupted by around 3 years old. The first tooth can appear anywhere between 4 to 12 months, which is considered normal. If a baby has not grown any teeth by the age of 1, there is no need to worry as long as other developmental milestones are on track. Observe for any other signs of abnormality in the baby, such as night crying, excessive sweating, nappy rash, or growth and development issues, and it is recommended to have a blood calcium level check at the hospital.
