Question
Can children drink fresh milk?
Answer
Fresh milk contains casein and whey proteins that are difficult for young children to digest. Therefore, children under six months of age should definitely not drink fresh milk. For children between 6 months and 3 years old, it’s best to drink formula milk, which contains many nutrients not found in fresh milk, such as trace elements and unsaturated fatty acids essential for infant brain development. After the age of 3, children can start drinking fresh milk. The amount of milk to drink should be determined based on the amount of new staple food. Children over one year old should ensure at least 350 milliliters per day. Unpasteurized fresh milk must be boiled before drinking. Bagged or boxed milk has already been pasteurized and can be consumed directly. However, if it’s too cold, it may not be suitable for a child’s digestive system, so it’s best to heat it up a bit. But milk should not be reheated repeatedly, as this can damage the nutritional substances within.
