Question
My child had a fever of 37.6°C at 11 PM on August 12th. I gave them 1/3 of Ruiqi Qingfei to reduce the fever, and by the next morning at 10 AM, the temperature was down to 37.4°C. We administered intravenous ceftriaxone, Yanhuning, and Ribavirin, and by 12 PM, the temperature was back up to 37.6°C. After feeding them 1/3 of Pufu Xitong, the fever subsided to 37.6°C by 4 PM in the afternoon. The child is in good spirits with no other symptoms. Previous treatment and effects: The doctor said it was a cold and prescribed the above intravenous medications, but there was no improvement. I would greatly appreciate any expert advice.
Answer
Eating walnuts will not cause vomiting and fever in children. There are many causes of childhood fever, which can be divided into infectious and non-infectious in clinical practice, with infectious causes being more common, such as colds being the most common cause. For fever, it is necessary to first determine the cause and treat it accordingly. High body temperature can easily lead to febrile convulsions in children, so it is also important to control body temperature. If the body temperature does not exceed 38.5°C and blood counts are not high, try not to administer intravenous fluids and can use physical cooling methods, such as wiping the child’s palms, soles of the feet, armpits, and groin with warm water to facilitate heat dissipation. Alternatively, some antiviral traditional Chinese medicine can be taken, such as pediatric cold syrups. Ensure the child drinks plenty of water and gets adequate rest. If the child is older, they can eat more vegetables and fruits and other light foods to keep bowel movements regular. If the child has recurrent fevers, it is best to go to the hospital for a check-up for peace of mind.
