Question
Why hasn’t my baby grown any teeth yet at one week old? Is it because of a lack of trace elements, and how should I supplement them?
Answer
By one week old, it is normal for a baby not to have any teeth. The development of primary teeth starts during the fetal stage, with tooth buds forming in the baby’s upper and lower jawbones, encompassing 20 primary teeth. At birth, these tooth buds only have crowns without roots, which develop gradually after birth. Generally, babies start growing primary teeth around six months old, beginning with the lower front teeth, followed by the upper front teeth. By around two and a half years old, all 20 primary teeth should have grown out. Therefore, there is no need to worry at this stage. Wishing your baby a healthy growth.
