Question

What is the range of vision for newborns? How far can they see?

Answer

Newborns have a response to light right after birth, but their eye movements are not yet targeted. About two weeks after birth, they can track light movements at a distance of about 50 centimeters. Around one month later, their eyes can fixate on objects and track light points. By four months, their eyes start to touch objects, and their eye movements begin to have directional control. At six months, their eyes exhibit binocular convergence movements and show the ability to grasp moving toys.
