Question
Dear pediatrician, my child suffered facial swelling and muscle tilt due to a slap on June 8, 2006. We have already undergone neurosurgical treatment, including taking vitamin B12 and receiving related medications. I would like to inquire if there are any other treatment methods that can help my child recover?
Answer
Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (BFGF)
This medication can activate the vitality of cells in the damaged area, promote the differentiation of nerve cells, extend the survival and growth of nerves, and enrich nerve distribution. The administration includes intramuscular injection (once daily, 1600-4000 IU per dose, 2-4 weeks as a course) and acupoint injection (1600 IU per dose, 2-3 points per session, once every 2 days).
Cranial Nerve Growth Factor Injection (Injectid Cranial Nerve Growth-ine)
This drug improves blood circulation in the brain tissue, promotes the transformation, uptake, and release of neurotransmitters, directly supplements neurotransmitters and precursors, shortens reflex time, and protects nerves from chemical toxins and viral infections. The administration is intramuscular injection (1-2 vials per dose, once or twice daily, once a month as a course) or acupoint injection (as above).
Methylcobalamin Injection (Methycobal Iajection)
This medication can inhibit the appearance of degenerative nerves in neuropathology and electrophysiology and has been proven in experiments to have similar recovery effects on paralysis as corticosteroids.
