Question

Why can’t children with pediatric allergic purpura receive vaccines?

Answer

Children with pediatric allergic purpura may not be able to receive vaccines due to the following reasons:

  1. Purpura appear in batches, fade after several days, but can recur, showing symmetrical distribution, mostly on the extensor sides of the limbs.
  2. Some patients may also have joint swelling and pain, joint cavity effusion, and other symptoms.
  3. Individual patients may also experience neurological symptoms such as headache, hemiplegia, convulsions, and coma, as well as respiratory symptoms such as hemoptysis and asthma.
  4. Kidney damage may occur, with symptoms such as edema, oliguria, proteinuria, and hematuria. Therefore, before vaccination, doctors need to consider the patient’s condition and physical status comprehensively to ensure the safety of vaccination.
