Question

I had a large blister the size of a quail egg after a scald burn on July 1st. On July 2nd, I accidentally broke it. Now I’m applying Meibao Moist Burn Cream, and it says to change the medication every 4-6 hours. How do I change it? How do I remove the old medication?

Answer

Firstly, do not panic and do not rush to remove your close-fitting clothing. Immediately rinse with cold water. Wait until it cools down before carefully removing the clothing to avoid tearing the blisters that have formed after the burn. The purpose of rinsing with cold water is to relieve pain, reduce oozing and swelling, and thus prevent or minimize the formation of blisters. Rinse for more than half an hour, stopping when you no longer feel pain. The water temperature should be around 20°C. Avoid using ice water to prevent frostbite. If the burn is on your fingers, you can also soak them in cold water. For areas like the face that cannot be rinsed or soaked, use a cold compress. After cold water treatment, dry the wound and then apply a thin layer of Blue Oil or Green Ointment, and properly bandage for 1-2 days to prevent blisters from forming.
