Question
What does it mean when there are white bubbles in a child’s urine?
Answer
For foam in urine, the following preliminary judgment can be made:
- If the bubbles are large or vary in size and last for a short time, this is due to certain organic substances (glucose) and inorganic substances (minerals) in the urine that increase its surface tension, which is normal and does not require concern.
- If the bubbles are large and quickly disappear, be cautious of diabetes.
- If fine bubbles float on the surface of the urine and do not dissipate for a long time, it may be proteinuria. To distinguish, take a test tube or small bottle, fill it with 20 milliliters of urine, stir with your hand back and forth, if fine bubbles that do not quickly dissipate appear on the surface of the urine, it is suspicious for proteinuria. It is seen in diseases of the kidney and should be taken seriously.
