Question
The child is still coughing, and I had a blood test done this afternoon; it said everything was fine. I’m asking the doctor to take another look. I’m suspicious if it’s due to pharyngitis or an allergy. The doctor has prescribed Azythromycin for us to take; is it okay? I also bought throat lozenges and rapeseed leaves that can be taken. I’m also planning to give her an antiviral oral liquid and a cold capsule. The child still has a bit of hoarseness in her throat. Please advise, thank you!
Answer
Based on your description of the illness and the results of the blood tests, there is a high possibility of cough variant asthma. I suggest you take the child to the pediatric department of the hospital for a chest X-ray to help with diagnosis and treatment. You can take carboxymethylsteram oral liquid, dextromethorphan oral liquid, and montelukast sodium tablets for treatment. Drink plenty of water, eat a light diet, avoid spicy and irritating food, and be mindful of staying warm to prevent catching a cold.
