My baby received the first dose of the DPT vaccine on Tuesday morning and had no issues after the shot. Today, which is the second day after the vaccination, the baby has a fever of 37.8 degrees Celsius at noon. By the way, I had been sick with a cold for about 3 days on the day the baby was vaccinated. The baby didn’t have a cold, so I decided to give him the vaccine. I want to ask if this fever is due to the vaccine or if I accidentally transmitted it to him. Thank you.

Fever after vaccination is a normal autoimmune response of the body. As long as it lasts for a short period (usually not more than 24 hours) and the temperature is not too high (do not exceed 38 degrees), there is no problem at all. If it persists for a long time or the temperature is too high, you should be aware that it may be caused by other issues. The reason why fever after vaccination in babies is considered normal is because the vaccine itself is a weak virus.
