Question

My baby is almost seven months old. I noticed they shake their head while nursing and sleeping since they were three months old, for about a minute. They still occasionally shake their head now. What could this be, and do I need to see a doctor?

Answer

This situation may be considered a physiological reason, as small babies often sweat excessively in the back of their heads, causing some to feel itchy and resulting in the shaking of the head. This can also lead to fewer hairs on the back of some babies’ heads. Additionally, be aware of brain growth and development issues, which may manifest as limb twitching or slower growth in some babies. If the baby can lift their head and sit up now, the former possibility is likely.
