Question

My 8-month-old baby has been having trouble sleeping at night recently. After going to bed around 7 PM, they wake up screaming around 9 PM, not because they are hungry but with a high-pitched, loud cry, as if they are trying to scream with all their might. They need to be held down to calm down. Even when held, they often cry again after a few minutes, sometimes even when not being put down. What should I do about this?

Answer

A 8-month-old baby who cries loudly at night can be relieved by being held down. If the baby’s forehead feels cool or they frequently arch their back and kick their feet, and their belly makes gurgling sounds, it may be discomfort in the stomach. Applying a belly patch might help. It is also suggested to supplement Vitamin D and ensure the child gets plenty of sunlight, and it would be wise to check for mineral deficiencies to see if the child is deficient in calcium.
