This test is for vaginal or cervical inflammation, and it’s not very severe. During treatment, we need to use acidic medications to rinse the vulva or vagina to inhibit the reproduction of Trichomonas. When there’s a fungal infection, the acidity inside the vagina increases, and we need to use alkaline medications to inhibit the growth of fungi. If we don’t identify the cause and use medication randomly, such as using acidic washes to treat fungi or alkaline washes to treat Trichomonas, it can actually worsen the condition.
