Question
My baby is 40 days old and was hit by a sharp corner of a square plastic box, leaving a bump. It swelled immediately, then gradually subsided, leaving some bruising. The baby seems fine and behaves as usual. Should I take an X-ray? The baby is so small; there can’t be any serious problems, can there?
Answer
This is due to an external injury, and the worst concern is that it might cause concussions or cerebral hemorrhages. If the child’s mental state is normal, breastfeeding is fine, and they can eat and play, then there’s generally no need to worry. Just be more cautious in the future. Additionally, if the child is hit by the sharp corner of a square plastic box, it usually does not interfere with the skull internally; it’s just an injury to the skin and fat. It will heal in a few days.
