Question

My child speaks indistinctly. My child was born with jaundice; could this be related? Previous treatment situation and effectiveness: I’ve seen a doctor before, and they said it’s not a tongue issue. What kind of help do I need: Do I need to treat my child, thank you.

Answer

Indistinct speech in children is generally related to the frenulum. Secondly, the brain’s speech center (language) usually doesn’t involve brain damage, so it should be a tongue issue, but I’m not sure if you’ve gone to a specialized hospital. However, if the child is over three years old, they may have missed the best time for speech development. I still recommend that you visit a provincial children’s hospital, make an appointment with an otolaryngology department, and if there’s no problem, that’s good. Anyway, the sooner the better.
