Question

What’s causing my child’s eyebrows to turn white?

Answer

Early symptoms of vitiligo are generally asymptomatic, simply presenting as irregularly sized, shaped, and numerous porcelain-white spots on the skin. These spots can appear anywhere on the body. If they occur on the scalp, eyebrows, or eyelashes, hair in those areas will turn white. Vitiligo is divided into two phases: the resolving phase and the stable phase. During the resolving phase, white spots may expand and increase in number with unclear boundaries. It is also recommended to visit a dermatology department in a regular hospital for a thorough examination to rule out vitiligo, and to undergo detailed Wood’s lamp examination and skin CT scan.
