Question

My child has noticeable scoliosis before the age of three. I would like to know if it can be fully corrected, and what medication should be taken for treatment.

Answer

The child’s condition may be due to a lack of vitamin D after birth, leading to a postural deformity known as rickets. Since the ribs have already deformed, the chance of them returning to normal is slim. If the child currently does not have a deficiency in vitamin D, medication may not be necessary. As the child grows older, the scoliosis may improve somewhat, but it is unlikely to completely return to normal. Cod liver oil contains vitamin A and D and can be taken until the age of three. For calcium supplements, options such as gluconate or calcium carbonate can be considered, along with plenty of sunlight exposure and a diet rich in calcium.
