Question

My daughter is four and a half months old. Her complexion is not rosy with a hint of white, and her lips and nail beds are pink. Is this coloration normal? I’m worried she might have anemia.

Answer

The pink color you described is difficult to determine precisely. Generally, if a child is in good spirits, eats normally, and grows at a pace comparable to other children of the same age, there usually won’t be any other diseases. If you are very concerned, you can take your child to the hospital for a blood test; anemia is easy to detect. Additionally, you can check the inner side of your child’s eyelids; if there is no paleness, it indicates that your child may not have anemia.
