Question

If I haven’t received the HIB vaccine before, do I need to get it after I’m 18 months old, and will it be effective if I do?

Answer

The Hib vaccine is suitable for routine automatic immunization for infants and young children aged 2 to 17 months to prevent diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b. It cannot be used to prevent diseases caused by other types of Haemophilus influenzae or meningitis caused by other microorganisms. The symptoms typically appear again within 6 hours after vaccination, and they generally gradually increase or disappear after 24 and 48 hours.
