Question
My child has a headache, with pain on both sides of the temples, which is very severe. I thought it would get better after a nap, but it was still painful when I woke up. It’s okay when I’m still, but it hurts a lot when I bend down or move my head. This condition has been going on from yesterday afternoon to this morning. The school doctor suggested going to the hospital for a detailed examination. Please help my child.
Answer
There are many causes of headaches, which can be generally divided into primary and secondary types. Primary headaches do not have a specific cause and are also known as idiopathic headaches, common ones include migraines and tension-type headaches. Secondary headaches are caused by specific conditions such as intracranial inflammation, vascular diseases, infections, trauma, systemic diseases, fever, internal environment disorder, and the effects of psychoactive drugs. Determining the cause of the headache is very important. It is recommended to go to the hospital for a brain CT scan and ultrasound examination. After diagnosis, treatment should be received according to the doctor’s advice.
