Question

My baby is 16 months old and her cheeks have been red for the past month. What could be the cause, and what are some good solutions? She is also allergic to penicillin.

Answer

There are two possible reasons for a baby’s cheeks to appear red. Firstly, if the child has a feverish face along with constipation symptoms, it might be a sign of stomach trouble. It is advised to drink plenty of water and consume sufficient vegetables and fruits. Secondly, if the face is not too hot but the skin is dry and has small bumps, it could be due to exposure to cold wind or an allergic reaction. In this case, a moisturizing cream can be used, and increasing the intake of milk, dairy products, and fish is recommended.
