Question
Is it okay to dilute a little bit of lactic acid calcium and feed it to the baby before letting him drink water (since he doesn’t like it)? The instructions say to dilute it 10 times, but will this cause the baby to have diarrhea?
Answer
For a 10-fold dilution of pediatric lactic acid calcium, you can take out the required amount and add more than 10 times the amount of water for dilution. You can use a bottle cap as a rough estimate; it doesn’t have to be very precise. If you choose to dilute it a little at a time, that method is also acceptable, but it may not be as reliable in achieving the correct concentration. Temporary consumption of slightly more than the recommended amount of lactic acid calcium is not very serious, but long-term use of excessively high doses could have negative effects on the baby’s growth and development, such as an increased risk of kidney stones.
