Question

What if a newborn accidentally licks a spoon that’s been used for solid food and has salt on it? I’ve heard that babies shouldn’t have salt.

Answer

As babies begin to introduce solid food, the consistency of their food should be adjusted according to their age. A 6-month-old baby should be fed smooth purees like rice gruel and meat puree; at 7 months, the texture can gradually be increased, but still not too smooth, such as cooked porridge with small millet grains; between 8 to 9 months, babies can start having minced meat, with food texture further enhanced; by the time they are 10 to 12 months old, the solid food can be made into half-grain corn size, such as diced meat.
