Question

For over six months, my baby has been experiencing recurring diaper rash. Although it has healed recently, the skin after healing appears much paler than the unaffected areas, forming patches that resemble vitiligo. What was the past treatment and its effectiveness? How should I handle the skin appearing like vitiligo after the diaper rash has healed?

Answer

Hello, your baby’s condition is a secondary hypopigmentation, which usually does not require excessive concern and may improve on its own after some time. There are no particularly effective treatment methods at present, unless there are signs of the spots expanding, in which case you may choose not to undergo treatment. It is recommended to switch to a milder talcum powder or nappy cream, as your baby may not be compatible with the products used previously.
